Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health (BIAH), headquartered in St. Joseph, Missouri, selected McCownGordon to expand the existing Building B on their 70-acre campus due to a need for increased production capacity. The extensive 46,000 square-foot bioproduction expansion houses processes of tissue culture, media prep, fermentation, killed and live blending, bottling and packaging.

Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health Manufacturing Facility built by McCownGordon

The complex project included two complete floors, an interstitial level and mezzanine/penthouse. The facility was designed and constructed to meet international quality-control guidelines.

Construction included selective demolition, laboratory casework, installation of process equipment, HVAC and HEPA Grid Systems, airlocks, clean rooms, electrical, instrumentation and controls, and process, plant utility and standard plumbing piping.

McCownGordon’s has grown a strong relationship with BIAH and has also completed multiple other projects including two new bioreactor manufacturing lines, a new killed and live virus filling line, as well as an upgraded filling line that was converted from a killed virus fill line to a combo killed and live virus fill line.
